“The work we do in Africa and elsewhere is part of a larger effort to bring stability, peace, and progress to a dangerous world. That is truly something to be proud of.”

As a company, DynCorp International is honored to contribute to that undertaking. President Bush’s words underscore the fact that the work we do in Africa and elsewhere is part of a larger effort to bring stability, peace, and progress to a dangerous world. That is truly something to be proud of.
Last October, I had the privilege of addressing the U.S.-Africa Infrastructure Conference in Washington, D.C. It was sponsored by the Corporate Council on Africa, of which we are a member. The conference brought together business and government leaders from the United States, Africa, and elsewhere to discuss the challenges facing Africa today and the opportunities they present for the African people and American businesses.

I was impressed with the African representatives I met, and they had many positive things to say about the work our company does and the contribution we can make to Africa today.
Africa is a continent on the move. After years of unfulfilled promise, many African nations have begun to seriously accept the challenges of modern nationhood. Africans want what we want: They want to build better lives for their children, they want to build free and secure societies, and they want to harness modern technology to create opportunity and raise their standards of living.
DynCorp International is already a part of that effort in several African countries, and we are working hard to expand our business in Africa.
We can help establish the conditions that lead to stability and prosperity, and as we do in other countries, we can transfer vital knowledge, skills, and cultural values to a new generation of Africans. This is the generation that will propel Africa to meet its vast potential.
Africa represents an important frontier for us. It is full of challenges and promise, and it is an ideal place for a company like ours to work. We embrace the challenge of working in austere environments, and we are energized by the opportunity to help build a better world.
